I've held onto these lines a long time

Thu Feb 16, 2006, 6:47 AM
So we taste something that we thought we always knew to be true
Like I thought you knew me, and you knew I thought of you
All of these dreams become undone like fading memories leaving only time to be at fault
Broken homes run us dry like a sliver, a scrap of metal against damp asphalt

Cautiously I dive into memory and recall the words you once whispered so flawlessly into my ear
So painfully often I still feel your footprints in the sand, and your reflection in the mirror
But through dreaming I remembered losing you once, and once I lost you, I remembered it was only a dream
It was before we became what we are now, back when we were what we used to be

Hahahaha, ahhhh. That's almost worth being so unpopular. (Yes yes, I know, signing in at four-month intervals and occasionally dumping a few new pieces of art all at once is not the best way to make friends. I know. Shush now.)

Why for I be doing this?

The child is dead, Jim. I'm sorry.

Really I am, but vigours were in the balance. We had to kill the child. We did it for your sake.

It was the right thing to do.

A bad workman is a tool.

I got the photos that were trapped inside my camera. They turned out to be hardly worth recovering.

But I need practice and I need to sustain a bit of inertia, so I sorted through the festering heap of rotting fish carcasses (metaphorically) and picked a couple that were semi-salvageable on which to work what feeble Photoshop magic I can manage. The results, as shown, are less than breathtaking.

You know the semi-competent photos I have tucked away in my gallery? They are the product of a bad workman with excellent tools. As I'm now bereft of a camera that does virtually everything for the user short of picking a subject, all you're going to get out of me will be this tosh.

Suffer in your jocks.

Nuts.

I have a bunch of photos on my (old, rusty, lo-res, modeless, zoomless, generally optionless) digital camera, but no way to transfer them over to the computer as the docking cable isn't working. This has been the case for months. Even though I rarely take photos, I'm now at the stage of having to sort through and delete photos that I'd rather keep if I want to take any new ones.

Yesterday's Play of the Day award goes to the Scrabble move in which I put down the word EMIGRATES across two triple-word-score tiles. That's a mere 12 points for the letters, tripled to 36, tripled again to 108, plus the 50-point bonus for using all letters, for a grand total of 158 points.

I won that game.

RMIT University has the single worst website in the entire world. [link] It may look benign enough in an uninspiring sort of way, but just try booking classes or finding important information on it...
